Ancient royal burial ground found in Egypt: report
CAIRO - ARCHAEOLOGISTS have uncovered ancient wooden coffins in what appears to be a royal burial ground near the necropolis of Abydos in southern Egypt, the state-run MENA news agency reported on Saturday.
The agency said that the discovery, made by a team from the Supreme Council of Egyptian Antiquities, could be dated back to the Old Kingdom (3,000 BC) - the golden age of pyramid building in ancient times.
The team 'has found what could be a royal complex of 13 tombs of different shapes and sizes that could have belonged to high officials from that period or people who contributed to building these tombs,' MENA said.
The agency said that human bones were found inside the coffins, although it did not specify how many coffins were discovered.
Objects made out of ivory similar to pieces used for playing chess were also found. MENA said only one other similar board game has been found in Egypt and that was among the fabled treasures of the legendary boy king Tutankhamun.
The discovery of Tutankhamun's intact tomb by British archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922 near Luxor in southern Egypt caused an international sensation because of the value and quality of its contents. -- AFP

Hearts and Noses Afire
It occured to me this morning, as I was sitting here in front of my computer, that it's Valentine's Day Eve. I know, it doesn't get the press that Christmas Eve does, but when you're single, Valentine's Day is sort of in your face from the day after Christmas on.
Anyway... as I sat here I started to laugh at myself, because frankly, the way I was looking, even if someone loved me dearly already, they wouldn't be too excited by what they saw at that moment.
See, I still have this cold, and frankly, I have looked so much cuter in my life.
First, there are the clothes. Since the only creature with a pulse that I saw yesterday was Sashi my wacky cat, I didn't put a lot of effort into the bedtime outfit. I was going purely for coziness and comfort. This ensemble consisted of my sushi pajama pants (with pictures of sushi, not actual sushi) paired with a long-sleeved t-shirt (that didn't match) and then, for the final flourish, a Hello Kitty bathrobe that just gave the outfit that certain something something. Yes, I was a vision.
When you add to this the drippy, raw nose and the matted hair, well, it was pretty sad.
I saw a segment on the Today Show about the art of being sexy and how you shouldn't have to try too hard, well, I think I get bonus points today.
I don't have a hot date for tomorrow - yet. But you never know what might happen. I have to run out a little later to get some more Kleenex and orange juice, who knows what cute fellow virus sufferer I might meet in the cold and flu aisle. We just might be a match made in drippy heaven.

basically possess strong and attractive personalities. They fall into two principle types: one shy, sensitive, gentle and patient; the other exuberant, lively and exhibitionist, sometimes hiding the considerable depths of their character under a cloak of frivolity. Both types are strong willed and forceful in their different ways and have strong convictions, though as they seek truth above all things, they are usually honest enough to change their opinions, however firmly held, if evidence comes to light which persuades them that they have been mistaken. They have a breadth of vision that brings diverse factors into a whole, and can see both sides of an argument without shilly-shallying as to which side to take. Consequently they are unprejudiced and tolerant of other points of view. This is because they can see the validity of the argument, even if they do not accept it themselves. They obey the Quaker exhortation to "Be open to truth, from whatever source it comes," and are prepared to learn from everyone.

Both types are humane, frank, serious minded, genial, refined, sometimes ethereal, and idealistic, though this last quality is tempered with a sensible practicality. They are quick, active and persevering without being self-assertive, and express themselves with reason, moderation and sometimes, a dry humor.

They are nearly always intelligent, concise, clear and logical. Many are strongly imaginative and psychically intuitive, so that the Age of Aquarius, which is about to begin, is much anticipated by psychic circles as an age in which mankind will experience a great spiritual awakening. The Aquarian philosophical and spiritual bent may be dangerous in that it can drive the subjects into an ivory-tower existence where they meditate on abstractions that bear little relevance to life. On the other hand it can help the many who have scientific leanings to combine these with the Aquarian yearning for the universal recognition of the brotherhood of man, and to embark on scientific research to fulfill their philanthropic ideals of benefiting mankind. When some cause or work of this nature inspires them, they are capable of such devotion to it that they may drive themselves to the point of exhaustion and even risk injuring their health.

Both types need to retire from the world at times and to become temporary loners. They appreciate opportunities for meditation or, if they are religious, of retreats. Even in company they are fiercely independent, refusing to follow the crowd. They dislike interference by others, however helpfully intended, and will accept it only on their own terms. Normally they have good taste in drama, music and art, and are also gifted in the arts, especially drama.
